Spiceworks Firefox Toolbar Add-On (Concept)

Update 08-26-08: This concept is now a reality: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/8546

So I had this idea a while back and finally found sometime last week to start this concept:

Creative Commons License

Spiceworks Firefox Addon Toolbar Concept is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 3.0 United States License.

It was inspired by the Facebook Toolbar and hope that Spiceworks will consider an API or develop this.

You might notice a Creative Commons license and let me explain. I am going to open up the Photoshop PSD file to anyone who wants to add or change features to the concept. You can then post it to the community either as an attachment or to your blog. The only rule is that there are no rules. I have "No Commercial" checked so none of Spiceworks competitors will take credit for our ideas (like it matters, everyone copies everything without permission anyways).

Link to PSD file: http://www.mediafire.com/?1kikdnim5mc

Vote: Would you like Spiceworks to Develop this Add-on?

How Bluetooth got its name - In a nut shell

So I read this great article that explained how Bluetooth got its name. Here it is in a nut shell. A bunch of companies (Sony, Microsoft, etc) formed a SIG (special interest group) and couldn't agree on a name. The codename, Bluetooth was coined by Sony.

The codename was inspired by King Harald Bluetooth; who was famous for uniting Scandinavia just as the SIG intended to unite the PC and cellular industries with a short-range wireless link.

And there you have it, How Bluetooth got its name in a nutshell.

Jott!

Dear Jott.com,

I love your service! I found your service via Gmail (Sponsored Link)

I use it daily, and last night, for the first time I used the Amazon feature! I was watching TV (South Park to be exact) and they were promoting there new DVD "Imagination Land" so I jotted it. This morning I went to my Jott and clicked the link (See more results from Amazon) and unfortunately they did not have it yet (Release date 3-11-08) but I did find a sponsored link that took me to comedycentral.com and bought it via Google Checkout!

I hope you guys get a piece of that for referring me to Amazon because I know that is how you make money.

Keep up the great work and innovations. I feel an acquisition coming so before you guys get bought I just want to say "Thank you Team Jott!"

Love,

Justin Dorfman

-----

I predict Google will acquire Jott to compliment their GrandCentral service.

Download JVM for PalmOS

I ditched my Treo 650 six months ago, unfortunately my boss has not. So his Treo 700p magically performed a hard reset and wiped off IBM's JVM. Then when I went to re-download it Palm decides to discontinue distributing JVM (http://blog.palm.com/palm/2008/01/last-chance-to.html). Then I totally remember putting it on my flash drive a while back and luckily remembered I had it.

So for those who can't find it anywhere here it is (link updated 12-29-08 Thanks Ed! Link added for those who have errors with Winzip, thanks Doug! 04-20-09):

http://www.mediafire.com/?yyjyt2zxgwg

or try
http://www.mediafire.com/file/omqynnd5mz5/WEME571JVM.zip

The Zip file includes the following:

Palm OS Garnet JVM

  • Documentation
  • JSR172
  • JSR75
  • JVM
  • ARM4T
  • Samples
  • - JSR172 - Contains PRCs for JSR 172 Web Services
  • - JSR75 - Contains PRCs for JSR 75 PIM integration
  • - JVM - Contains PRCs for JVM with MIDP and CLDC JSRs
  • - Samples - contains sample midlets
Enjoy!
